Do classes run in the summer?
Classes carry on throughout the summer holidays with the exception of 1 week. (We usually close the 3rd week of August.)

How do you know when my child is ready for exams?
All of our classes do regular Medal Assessments. Prior to these, the teachers regularly assess during classes to ensure that students are well prepared to feel confident in performing well in their assessment.

When is your show?
Our Big Show is every other year and involves all students. There are other performance opportunities throughout the year, such as showcases and the Suffolk Academy Performers.

Does my child have to do exams/shows?
Students do not have to take exams or do shows. However, we try and encourage them to take part and ensure that it is a positive experience for them that helps to build their confidence and to recognise the progress they are making.

What do they need to bring to class?
Students will need to bring a water bottle to class with them. Older ballet students should have a pen and note book in their bag. Little Stars can bring a doll or cuddly toy.

How will my child develop their technique?
Our classes continually work on technique and performance ability in their relevant subject. Technique progresses through the time in each class and over the levels in each subject. Assessments help students to recognise this progress.

What if they want to stop classes?
Our Terms & Conditions state that a term’s notice (6 weeks) is required via email if a student wants to stop attending. Refunds are not issued.

My child wants to do extra classes. What do you offer?
We offer classes in ballet, tap, modern, hip hop, street dance, contemporary and musical theatre dance. A free trial lesson can be arranged by emailing info@sadpa.co.uk for existing students.

When does my child move up to the next class?
Students move up at different times depending on the subject. Ballet and tap students will start the next grade of the BBODance syllabus after an assessment. Students in all subjects continue to progress and be challenged. Students may move up depending on age and ability or graduation of older students, when agreed by the class teacher and principal.

What will my child be doing each week?
This varies between classes and depends on what is coming up. They could be working towards a show, assessment or competition. We aim for our students to always have something to work towards.

What does my child need to wear?
For a trial lesson they need to come in something they are comfy to move in such as joggers, T-shirt amd jumper. Trainers are good for street, hip hop and musical theatre trials. If you haven’t got dance shoes, then bare feet are best for other classes.

How do I book a trial?
Free trial lessons can be booked for existing students by parents logging into the Class Manager account. New students can use the links on the ‘classes’ page of this website or, for ballet and tap classes, email info@sadpa.co.uk to ensure that they try the most suitable class.

What happens on the first day?
At their first class, students will be welcomed by our experienced teachers and encouraged to join in. If they are unsure to start with, they will be able to watch the lesson.

How much are classes?
Classes are priced from £30 - £53 for 6 weeks, depending on the length of the class. See the ‘our prices’ page for more details.

Can I watch classes?
Parents are not able to watch classes as students achieve much more when they attend class independently. However, viewing weeks are held during the year.

My child is ill
If your child is unable to attend, please email info@sadpa.co.uk.

What are your term dates?
Our invoices are issued every 6 weeks. We continue classes through half-terms.

What happens if they join part way through a term?
If the student joins part way through a term then an invoice will be issued for the remaining weeks of the term.
